Eva Green As Wonder Woman?

Eva-GreenAs was reported back a little while ago, Joss Whedon is off of the Wonder Woman project (Bet he wishes he took the X-Men 3 project when he had the chance now). Warner has a new script, and is moving forward with the project. So, let the “who will play Wonder Woman?” circus begin!!!

Our friends over at Cinema Blend give us this about Eva Green being one of the lead contenders:

Tonight a scooper, who’s given us good information before, emailed me to let me know that Casino Royale star Eva Green may be up for the part of the Amazonian superhero. Now hold on, don’t run around screaming that she has it. Right now they’re considering several different people. Even if this rumor is true, Eva is just one of the names on their shopping list.

I am disappointed that Whedon is off the project. He’s always done a great job with strong female characters and I thought he could have brought a needed touch to a big screen adaptation of the hero. BUT… as others have said before me… Joss Whedon was handed Wonder Woman at about the same time Bret Ratner was handed X-Men 3. X-Men 3 was made, in theaters, out of theaters and released on dvd… all while Whedon was able to do NOTHING with Wonder Woman except sit in his office and stare at his Serenity posters.

Now, back to Eve Green. I personally would have no problems with her getting the role. However… I’m not as sold on her as some others are. Yes… she’s naked and hot as hell in Dreamers… but she was only “pretty good” in Casino Royale, and just dreadful in Kingdom of Heaven (but then again, everything about that mess was dreadful and perhaps she shouldn’t be judged on that).

With Whedon out of the picture, expect things to start moving a lot faster with this project. From what I hear, we’ll hear a major announcement soon.
