Online video distribution is doing more than just make it more convenient to watch our favorite films… it’s also giving us access to a whole world of film that most of us in North America or never really get exposed to. For example, take a look at this new terrific service called “Jaman“. Twitchfilm gives us the nice little look at it:
What is it? Well, put it this way. Tired of waiting for stuff to clear your Netflix waiting list and finally make their way to you? Or, perhaps, constantly importing foreign releases to find the little international films you crave? Jaman takes the waiting out of it. Jaman is a purely digital film rental and purchase system that lets you find the films you want, download them and either play them as many times as you want for a set number of days – the rental option – or keep them permanently – the purchase option – at very low cost. You need to use their proprietary software to do it but, since that software was developed by people who worked on Quicktime for Apple, the audio and video quality is simply excellent.
I think something like this is brilliant. I played around with it for a while this morning and it seems to be very easy to use, simple to navigate and the video quality is pretty damn good. This will end up being a great way to find tasty little film treats that you’ve probably never heard of (or would have heard of) before. I’m interested to see how this matures and expands…. or flops… we’ll see.
