I find myself going back and forth on weather The Mummy 3 is a good idea or a bad idea. On the one hand, I think the first Mummy film was actually a lot of fun mindless adventure. A generally good time at the theater. The Mummy 2, for all it’s weaknesses, still managed to entertain me a little, but it was certainly a step backwards from the first. Still, there’s not much denying that a third Mummy film would at least make a bit of green.
So even though up until now my only real positive thoughts about a Mummy 3 are all strictly business related and not so much about the film itself, today I heard a rumour that actually has me curious to see the film (if it’s true). Word is, the bad guy for Mummy 3 would be Jet Li! The good folks over at Horror-Movies gives us this:
Now this is an interesting rumor. Mania.com is reporting that Jet Li is going to be the villain in the upcoming Mummy 3 film. The Mummy 3 will hit theatres in 2008, and we really don’t have any word on any details.
To this day, my favorite role I’ve ever seen Jet Li in was Lethal Weapon 4 as the bad guy. He was scary as hell and carried a great villain presence (it’s not my favorite Jet Li film, just my favorite role of his). I’d love to see him be a baddie again… even if it is in a Mummy 3 movie.
