Metal Gear Solid Movie

The very popular Metal Gear Solid video game looks to be getting the movie treatment.

Yahoo! Entertainment says:

The studio plans to turn the PlayStation game series from Konami Digital Entertainment into a character-driven futuristic spy thriller.

The game centers on Solid Snake, a Special Forces operative called out of retirement for one last mission. With terrorists threatening a nuclear facility in Alaska, Snake must penetrate their defenses and neutralize the threat.

I have little hope for this even though the concept sounds decent enough.

If they made this movie about a special ops guy taking on terrorists in the artic, then sure. Great action movie. But they have to use a similar plotted video game to take the concept to film just for the name, and that will make it rot.

They should have just made the movie under another title then have the publicists say afterwards that it was Metal Gear Solid the movie. And when they add Metal Gear Solid to the DVD casing, people can finally say “oh Look, a decent movie based on a video game!”

Maybe Uwe Boll will direct. What do you think?
