Pirates Takes Visual Effects Society Awards

Its awards season, and there are plenty of them. This one is of particular interest to me as I am a nut for special effects. That being said, I didnt even know about the Visual Effects Society Awards. But good to see there are some for this very cool industry.

MovieWeb reports:

The VES Awards were given out tonight during the Visual Effects Society’s (VES) fifth annual gala event at the Kodak Grand Ballroom. This year’s event, garnering the best attendance for these events so far, attracted more than eight hundred celebrities, visual effects and animation artists, dozens of nominees and members of the film, television and games industries.

Now it looks like Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Man’s Chest took home the most booty, and John was pretty pumped that Battlestar Galactica won an award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a broadcast series.

I wasn’t surprised to see Pirates take that many awards seeing as how amazing Davey Jones looked, let alone the rest of his crew. And I have yet to see any SciFi look as good as Battlestar on TV. They have to do this week after week and still put out the quality goods!
