I was pretty excited (with some mild reservations) about the Dark Crystal sequel, the Power of the Dark Crystal. But we havent heard any news about it since early October last year. There might be a reason for that.

Last year it was announced that a sequel to Jim Henson’s cult classic The Dark Crystal was being directed by Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky. The Power of the Dark Crystal was going to employ muppets in CG environments, and I for one was looking forward to seeing what would come of this unique project. Unfortunately it seems that the movie has now been put on hold indefinitely, despite some promising pre-production work that had already been done.
I am a little dissappointed. I was really looking forward to what they were going to do with this. Would it be as impacting as the first? Would there be muppets or will it all be cgi?
Well all those questions and anticipations will have to wait. Maybe forever. Who knows.
At least this leaves room for another Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen movie.
