Meg Ryan and WIlliam H. Macy will be working to gether in the new film The Deal. comingsoon.net give us this:
William H. Macy and Meg Ryan will topline The Deal, based on Peter Lefcourt’s comedic novel about Hollywood. Variety says Macy co-wrote the script with his longtime collaborator Steven Schachter (“The Wool Cap,” “Door to Door”), who’s directing.
Here is the plot outline:
Macy will play a down-on-his-luck Hollywood producer who cons a major studio into financing a $100 million action adventure script about 19th century British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. When the leading man gets kidnapped, and the picture is shut down, the producer and a Hollywood studio executive use the studio’s blocked funds to make a completely different picture without telling the studio.
This sounds frigging hilarious! I love the concept of an action movie about a 19 century Prime Minister, I could totally see that being pitched to someone. I dare say that the deception that Macy’s character pulls off is something that most producers have dreamed of doing (minus the kidnapped star that is).
I am still a big fan of Ryan, she always has charisma (plastic surgery) or not and Macy never disappoints. The fact that Macy also co-wrote it is a major plus, he has always struck me as a guy who can put words together nicely (better than this blogger I’m sure).
I’ll be waiting patiently for this one to hit theaters.
