The Dark is Rising has two new faces to the cast; Chistopoher Eccleston (Heroes, 28 Days Later)and Johnathan Jackson (Insomnia). The good people over at movieweb.com give us more:
Christopher Eccleston and Jonathan Jackson have been added to the cast of the action/adventure fantasy, The Dark is Rising for Fox and Walden Media. David L. Cunningham directs the film based on Susan Cooper’s novel about a young man who travels back and forth through time to fight evil, says Variety. The rest of the cast includes Ian McShane, Frances Conroy and Alexander Ludwig.
The casting of Eccleston is strong, he is getting a name for himeslf off Heroes and he was very solid in 28 Days Later. As for Jackson, didn’t really notice him before this so…could be good or crap. I’m just not sure I’m into this film at all, a young guy fighting evil with the help of time travel? Seems a little hard to swallow. I am not big on movies that have a kid in one of the lead roles and it looks like that is what we have here.
This may be a renter if I walk by it at the video store and there is nothing else but for now it is not striking my interest at all, with or without the new cast members.
