The Wolfman is going to be an interesting film, with Benicio Del Toro attached and now with Mark Romanek as the director this flick could end up being a film. The good people over at comingsoon.net have more on the story:
Director Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) is set to helm The Wolfman, says The Hollywood Reporter. Scott Stuber and Mary Parent are producing the remake of the classic Universal Studios monster, which has Benicio Del Toro attached to star. Del Toro also is on board as a producer with Rick Yorn. The movie will hew to the period pedigree of the 1941 original, in which a man returns from the U.S. to his ancestral home in Victorian-era Great Britain, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence.
This is actually one cheesy horror remake that I’m excited about. I am a big fan of Del Toro and the interesting thing about Romanek is that besides One Hour Photo the majority of his work has been in music videos. That would seem to be a drawback but in a film like this where pace and excitement should be very important he is the right man for the job in my books.
Until I can see at least the trailer I’ll be howling at the moon in anticipation.
