Black Water Transit, the new film starring Bruce WIllis is considering controversial director Tony Kaye as the replacement for Samuel Bayer (who left because of “creative differences”). Our friends over at cinematical.com give us more on the talks:
Kaye is currently negotiating to take over directing duties on the Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson starrer Black Water Transit. The film (is) adapted from the Carsten Stroud novel by Live Free or Die Hard scribe Doug Richardson.
Here is the film’s plot The story follows the divergent agendas of criminals, cops and lawyers as they collide over a shipment of illegal firearms and a double homicide. Earl Pike, a criminal, tries to get his family’s illegal gun collection to a safe haven.
Tony Kaye may be known for being a little difficult and weird but he is a good director, American History X was very well done. I think whatever problems he may have had with Edward Norton on that set obviously did not effect the film negatively. It is quite possible from his actions following History X that Kaye was probably suffering from the beginnings of a nervous breakdown. Since Kaye took a nice long break he has probably learned how to cope better from those days.
Willis and Jackson will probably make it easy on his, since the first director left because of creative differences I am sure that everyone is eager to get this show on the road so I see everyone being on their best behavior for this film.
At least as much as one can be when a film is about crime and drugs.
