Looks like today is the day that actors are announcing their directorial debuts, but unlike Natalie Portman, I think WIlliam H. Macy has picked the right project; Keep Coming Back and is at the right time in his life to sit down into the director’s chair. The people over at cinematical.com have more on this:
Macy is planning his feature-film directorial debut this year. The actor will work behind the camera on the film Keep Coming Back, which will start shooting in July. Macy previously directed a made-for-HBO movie in 1988, Lip Service, and was an executive producer for Transamerica, which starred his wife, Felicity Huffman.
The movie is also starring Salma Hayek, Mos Def and Steve Buscemi. Here is the plot outline:A good teenager with a bad heart condition and a crush on a stripper (Hayek) twice his age opts to join her Alcoholics Anonymous group just so he can be in the same room with her.
It looks cute, probably a funny coming of age movie, with good dialogue (hopefully) and strong performances. This is the perfect full feature for Macy to direct. He’s gotten his feet wet with producing and doing a TV movie, now he’s ready.
I approve Mr. Macy, I approve.
