I wasn’t really sure what to expect going into see The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe last year. But I can tell you now that I’m one of those people who thought it was wonderful. In my opinion, the movie captured the whole “awe and wonder” feelings of a child when exploring the CS Lewis created world of Narnia. I love it.
Many kudos have to go out to director Andrew Adamson for bringing it to life on the big screen pretty much as well as it could be done. Adamson is now feverishly working on the Sequel, “Prince Caspian”… but word it that he probably won’t be back to direct the third installment of the series himself. he folks over CinemaBlend give us this:
Adamson is already hard at work on the second film in the series, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. It sounds like the decision to skip on the third installment may have been his, and not because of some dissatisfaction on the part of Walden Media. MH says he’s decided to “sit this one out”.
Voyage of the Dawn Treader has always been my favorite of the three books. It’s also a real departure from the first two. It’s a different kind of adventure than either Wardrobe or Prince Caspian. Voyage of the Dawn Treader is also the first of the Narnia books to use a different set of main characters.
Word is that the studio is now looking at The Illusionist director Neil Burger… which makes me a little nervous because I thought The Illusionist was a wreck of a movie, but to be fair, a lot of that had to do with the story and a bad script.
I am curious to see how these new Narnia film perform in theaters. “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe had much bigger name recognition. Can the sequels do just as well? I doubt it… but we’ll have to wait and see.
