This one is a little bit surprising, but when you think about it, I guess it shouldn’t be. The news has just come out that Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to be returning to the Terminator universe to reprise his role as a terminator. Notice that I said “a” terminator and not “the” terminator. Word has it he’ll be back… but only as a cameo.
The good folks at Moviehole give us this:
“I think it’s in his contract [to make an appearance]”, MGM CEO Harry Sloan told The Boston Herald, confirming that it’ll probably only be a “cameo”.
According to Sloan, they’re on the hunt for another actor to play the new Terminator, though (There was talk at one stage of Vin Diesel… but I’d say that idea is long forgotten). No doubt, John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris, have written the film with someone in mind.
Yeah, this makes sense to me. It was a miracle Arnold pulled Terminator 3 off… but as his age, and with all the health problems he’s had… the man just can’t be a believable Terminator anymore… but I’m thrilled he’ll make at least a cameo.
So now the question is… who do you think should be the NEW terminator?
