Escape from New York Remake Without Kurt Russell

Kurt-Russell-Snake I’m a big Kurt Russell fan. The dude just oozes manliness to a level most mere mortal men shall never know. And I think most of us can agree that one of this more defining roles was that of Snake Plissken in Escape From New York (let’s just pretend the OTHER Escape movie didn’t happen shall we?). Well… it looks like the remake machine is in motion.

There is going to be an Escape From New York remake… and this time it WON’T have Kurt Russell in it. That’s pretty damn hard to imagine. I mean… someone other than Kurt as Snake? Really?!?! Yikes.

However, seeing as in Escape From New York, Snake is supposed to be a lot younger that Russell is now, it sort of makes sense I guess. And before a lot of you (me included actually) start in with the “they don’t need to remake this movie”, remember, the only legitimate question here is “Will the studio make money if they make this”? I think the answer to that question is yes… yes they will. I think it will attract an audience, and as we’ve all seen recently, that’s really all that matters.

Oh, and who will replace Russell in the role? None other than 300’s Gerard Butler. It’s amazing what a smash hit film can do for your career isn’t it.

So what are your thoughts?
