Snyder Lines Up Punch After 300

300 Director Zack Snyder is already getting a lot of attention and his movie 300 isnt even out yet. Now it looks like he is hoping he is sticking with a winning formula. Snyder loves visually stunning movies, fantasy and wants to keep making movies like that.

Yahoo News says:

Zack Snyder, who is eyeing the project as a directing vehicle, will co-write the script with Steve Shibuya, adapting it from his own original short story.

Set in the 1950’s, “Punch” follows a girl who is confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.

Sounds like a real drug induced trip to me. The good kind.

I really like movies that take you out of the reality but still have enough grounded to make the story real. Snyder lists Moulin Rouge as a type of inspiration for style. Keeping it modern, but still taking place in a different era. Music is a big part of this too, so expect to see people breaking into dance.

I really hope this goes full term and we actually get to see this kind of movie. There just isnt enough of them out there!
