Yet another American Pie sequel is in the works in Toronto. Right around the corner from us here in Hamilton.
The new pastry-puffed outing is called “American Pie Presents : Beta House” and it again stars “Naked Mile” quartet John White, Ross Thomas, Jake Siegel and Steve Talley. Producing are Joel Soisson (“Pulse”) and Keith Birder. Andrew Walker will direct.
Erik Stifler is off to college, where he and his best friends Ryan & Cooze reunite with Dwight Stifler to rush the Beta Fraternity, where Dwight is already firmly entrenched. Having crushed the evil rivals of the LAMBDA PIs (the little people fraternity), Beta House must now face down the evil empire of the GEK house – a new and improved fraternity of geeks who use their brains and money to try and destroy the Beta House and everything anti-Geek that it represents. As initiates, our boys must defend the honor of their new fraternity, and come to grips with their new lives.
So it is yet another story of a Stiffler brother (how many did he have?) entering a new scenario acting cocky and like a jerk and falling for a girl. He has to redefine his priorities, and likely gets the girl.
Granted I never fell much into the American Pie sequels beyond the original cast. Inventing a Stiffler brother was better than replacing the actor, but it was the same character really. I loved American Pie, all of them, but the expanded universe just didn’t appeal to me. This direct to video generation in Band Camp felt like a cheap replacement.
I had heard there was another coming with Naked Mile, but hadn’t seen it. Now they are making a sequel but sticking with that cast? Guess its better than starting over with yet another Stiffler.
