Ashley Judd is one of those actresses whose career stumps me. For a couple of years she was pretty hot (career wise) and looked like she was going to be the “it” girl in Hollywood for some time to come. But then she sort of fell off the radar. Oh she’s kept working… but her presence in any significant films playing any significant roles virtually disappeared, which is a shame because I think she’s one hell of an actress. I’m sure taking roles in several horrible movies didn’t help her marquee value either (Good grief… were any of you unfortunate enough to see that wretched movie of hers called “Eye of the Beholder” that she was in with Ewan McGregor? Wow that was awful stuff).
Well, looks like she’s just got herself attached to a film that I’m just getting more and more interested in seeing. Crossing Over. Crossing Over already has a formidable cast attached (Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Sean Penn). Adding Ashley Judd to that mix is a nice score.
Variety says it’s about the illegal alien situation. It will use intersecting storylines and a big cast, which includes Ford, Ray Liotta, and Sean Penn at this point. Ford will play an enforcement agent, Liotta a Customs and Immigration adjudicator, and Penn will have a cameo as a border patrol agent. Apparently Judd will play an attorney defending immigrants. I’m pumped to see it.
But wow… ya… Eye of the Beholder… ouch.
