Kevin Spacey’s production unit Trigger Street Productions has cast Marg Helgenberger, Val Kilmer and Wilmer Valderrama to star in the upcoming film “Columbus Day.” We get the news from moviehole:
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kilmer will play a thief who has just one morning to fix what has gone awry in the biggest heist of his life, all while attempting to repair his relationship with his ex-wife (Helgenberger). Valderrama will play a longtime associate who helps plan the crime despite grave concerns.
“Columbus” marks a reunion between Kilmer and Spacey, who attended Chatsworth High School together in Los Angeles.
Kilmer plays a wicked thief. He has stolen in both Heat and The Saint and I want to see him steal again. I am a little concerned that in this movie about a thief, the day after the heist is also the day you work things out with your ex-wife?
Call me sceptical, but I am thinking the last person on earth that you would want in on a heist – would be an ex spouse. Perhaps this is what will give the movie its spice; maybe I am being too sceptical. It may be a dialog driven film, a couple yelling about their failed relationship as they split the money. Maybe the EX will try to skim owed child support payments from the bounty.
I hope crime is what brings them back together.
