Today we hear wind of a new Kristen Dunst project, I laughed when I read the title of the film. We get the news from the fabled swashbucklers at filmwad:
Kirsten Dunst has signed on to join the cast of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, an adaptation of the eponymous memoir of former Vanity Fair journalist Toby Young. Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead and the vastly-underwatched-Stateside TV series Spaced) is set to star as the chief friend-loser.
I can’t believe Dunst will be working with Pegg, that is a team up I wouldn’t of guessed in 100 years. I am a fan of Pegg, not so much a fan of Dunst. I can see Pegg being hilarious as a guy who is hell bent on losing friends and being annoying to all around him. My only concern is that Dunst will steal his thunder.
Who knows – Dunst may rule in this, I have no info on her character as of yet – It may suit her perfectly. This may be the movie that brings me on board as a Dunst enthusiast; this may be the film where I forgive her for what she is doing to the Spiderman series. I just dont like her in romantic leads in any way shape or form and that seems to be her bag right now. Maybe she needs to return to what she is best at – being a vampire child.
