Grindhouse Getting Split in 2 for UK Release

It’s shocking how fast the question of “how big of a hit will Grindhouse be?” changed to “Will Grindhouse make as much as Snakes on a Plane?”. Don’t laugh… I honestly don’t think it’s going to make as much as Snakes…. OUCH!

Anyway, as many of you already know, the plan has always been to split the Grinhouse into 2 separate films to be released in a number of foreign markets. However, due to the huge disappointment (the film has bomed big time) in it’s North American results, it looks like they’re splitting the movie up in EVERY other market now… including the UK… in an attempt to make back some of the massive wads of money their losing. You can’t really blame them too much. If I was losing as much as they are, I’d be looking for different ways to try to make some of it back.

That’s right… our international friends across the pond are going to have to go see Planet Terror and Death Proof on 2 separate occasions, because they won’t be playing together (If I might suggest just taking in Planet Terror and giving a pass to Death Proof… unless you’re having trouble sleeping, in which case Death Proof might be just for you).

But still, as disappointed as I was in Death Proof, the whole experience of Grindhouse was a really fun one, and having 2 features back to back was a fantastic idea. I lament for our international friends who can’t experience the film they way we did.
