Roughly the last 10 years in Harrison Ford’s career have been just horrible. How does a guy go from turing every movie he touches into gold… to a guy who can’t do a decent film to save his life… almost over night? But that’s exactly what has been going on. News of Indiana Jones 4 (if it does actually happen) couldn’t come at a better time for Ford… he REALLY needs this. And it couldn’t come at a better time for Ford fans (like myself) who are dying to see him do something worth watching again.
It’s now being reported that Harrison has signed up for the Mexican boarder issue film “Crossing Over”. The good folks over at Cinemablend give us the following:
Despite the name, Crossing Over is not about that guy who pretends to speak to dead people in infomercials. Variety says it’s about the illegal alien situation. It will use intersecting storylines and a big cast, which includes Ford, Ray Liotta, and Sean Penn at this point. Ford will play an enforcement agent, Liotta a Customs and Immigration adjudicator, and Penn will have a cameo as a border patrol agent.
Oh good… yet another “intersecting story lines” movie. These are getting a little tired, to the point that I was sick of it by the end of the massively over-praised “Babel” .
BUT… there is no denying this is a big issue right now, and the cast seems pretty solid. It could end up being pretty good. Maybe this movie ould serve as that transition movie for Ford after Indiana Jones where he finally goes from “Action star” to “the older dude” in his roles. And that by no means is a bad thing.
