He’s Just not that into you was a fantastic idea for a book. It is a funny line, and to be honest, is usually true in most relationships that start to see decline. Everyone has been on one end of the phrase “I’m not that into you” so people can relate to the book after reading the title alone.
Drew Barrymore being the sassy, shrewd entrepreneur that she is has picked up the rights to do a film version of the book. We get the story from out friends at Yahoo:
Drew Barrymore and business partner Nancy Juvonen are producing the New Line project. The book was written by comedian Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, who worked together on “Sex and the City” as a consultant and writer, respectively.
The movie’s story line sees a hard-line advice guy fall for a woman who seeks him out because she can’t figure out the men in her life.
Other than using the name, I have a hard time seeing how the movie will follow the book. From my understanding, the book was a bevy of faltering relationship scenarios that ended pretty much with the author reinforcing the fact that “He is just not into you.” Perhaps the hard-line advice guy will go over his new girlfriends previous relationships and explain what went wrong in a montage? Who knows.
It may be a tough film to do a direct adaption, but I certainly see why they would want to jump on this. The book was/is very popular – John just told me that he has talked to a number of gals this year that LOVED the book. If the word on the street is any indication of success, I have no doubt that this film will be huge.
I just hope they do a version for guys called “Sorry Man – Your Bitch Is Crazy.”
