So I was just looking over my 10 most anticipated films of 2007 post I did months ago (remember… it’s ANTICIPATED… not the 10 films that I think would be the BEST movies of the year) and I realized that we’re half way through the list (I’ve seen 5 of the films so far). And so far… well… it’s been “ok”. Here is my 10 list with the ones I’ve seen bolded and commented on:
1) Transformers (I’m masturbating as I type that)
2) 300 – Wonderful film. Not the “Best Movie Ever” kinda film… but overall a really fun time in the theater.
3) Spider-Man 3
4) Pirates of the Caribbean 3
5) The Simpsons Movie
6) Hot Fuzz – Plain and simple not as good as Shaun of the Dead… but who cares? It’s a good film that I think you’ll really enjoy if you leave the comparisons at the door.
7) Grindhouse – Planet Terror and the fake trailers… AWESOME! Death Proof…. crap. Overall still a fun time at the movies
8) Smokin’ Aces – You know what… not bad. I was expecting MUCH better… but it was ok I guess
9) 30 Days of Night
10) The Number 23 – Horrible horrible horrible film. Might be my worst film of the year so far… but I’ll have to think about that.
Just goes to show you that “expectations” and “anticipation” can sometimes bite you in the ass. On the other hand, some movies I thought would be crap have ended up pretty good too… so that’s the universe for ya. Still 5 to go… and lots of other good ones too coming down the pipe.
