Matt Damon is just one of those actors that must be offered just about every role for every movie ever. The guy comes up in casting rumours more often than Doug cusses. I heard recently that he was being considered for the role of Princess Diana in the biopic of her life.
Surely the over-active imagination of a virginal comic book buff, ComicBookMovie relays a rumour that Matt Damon – a guy who, lets face it, has been rumoured for every movie at one time or another – is up for the role of the jade suited ‘Green Arrow’ in Goyer’s upcoming “Super Max” movie.
Should Damon – also recently rumoured to be up for the role of another heroic icon, Captain Kirk, in J.J Abrams’ “Star Trek” prequel – sign up, he won’t be playing a superhero per say, but more so, a variation on old Oliver.
The film will resolve around a wrongly convicted Green Arrow being whisked away to a prison.
I have already expressed how I think this take on Green Arrow is a bad one and unless this movie takes place mostly AFTER Queen escapes the prison and hunts down those who set him up, then I see no reason to get excited about a movie with Green Arrow who doesn’t have any arrows.
As for Matt Damon as Oliver Queen. I just can’t see him with the little iconic Robin Hood beard (which will likely get overlooked anyways) but mostly I would be happy with Matt Damon playing any sort of physically active character. The guy just makes action look easy, and he is a better actor than most pure action stars, so its all good.
Just give me a solid story that is character driven with some fun action and lots of archery. But keep the goofy trick arrow stuff out of it. No big arrow with a boxing glove on it. Thats cheese. Green Arrow is some serious stuff, no cheese.
