Rumors were loosed today that Hanks is on board for the sequel to the Da Vinci Code: Angels and Demons. We get the dirt from our friends at Cinema Blend:
Hanks has been in talks to do the film for awhile now, and apparently it took a really big paycheck to get him. Our scooper says it’s the “biggest salary ever paid to an actor in the history of Hollywood.” I guess it doesn’t get much bigger than that does it? But The Da Vinci Code was a huge success for Sony Pictures, particularly internationally. If they have to pay him more than $50 million to get it back, it’s probably worth it.
Although this news is not yet concrete with a studio announcement – It makes sense. The Da Vinci Code was an alright movie, and to get Hanks back for a sequel – it should be expensive. I am not that excited to see this film, but I am certainly happy for Hanks. Who would of thought that the dude from Splash would go on to be the highest paid actor to date. I just hope in Angels and Demons they rescue the last mermaids on earth from the Vatican Rape Dungeons.
