VanDamme in Holy Blood

I hate to admit it, but I am a closet Jean Claude VanDamme fan. I am not saying he was a great actor. He is kinda the opposite. But fine acting chops are really not required for action. Especially when you can do the splits and punch a man in the junk. I wrote a while ago about VanDamme making a comeback and now it looks like he has the projects lining up.

Moviehole Reports:

Called “Holy Blood”, and based on a script by Sheldon Lettich and John Dombrow, the movie “deals with the occult and the supernatural, and there’s certainly some stuff in it that’s designed to be creepy and/or scary. But it’s not a horror movie per se, like — for example — “Evil Dead” or “Hostel” or “Halloween” or “Saw.” The short description I’ve given is “The Exorcist meets the X-Files.” What’s different is that it’ll have Van Damme instead of Father Karras, or Scully & Mulder”, the writer tells fans on the VanDammeFan.com site.

Wasn’t TV’s Supernatural described as Excorcist meets the XFiles? Oh well…

So he was reported to be in “Til Death”, and now “Pride” and “Holy Blood” and is tickling his toes in the scifi waters for another project too.

I think this is due time for a VanDamme revival. The world needs a new action hero, and all the hopefuls we keep expecting to tear out of the big screen in an iconic stream of action movies just seem to be falling flat.

It looks like that is the plan too. Rumour has it that he has learned to act, well at least act better, and he is lining up movies to take advantage of the media stream that will put his name back in the news and keep it there for a while.

I don’t see Oscars here, but at least one of these movies will have him doing the splits.

At least one.
