Leo has put up his own money and is spearheading a documentary called 11th Hour. The film will be released domestically this fall. We get the story from the caves of Yahoo:
The title of “11th Hour” refers to the last moment when change is possible, and the film features interviews with more than 50 scientists, thinkers and world leaders, including former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, scientist Stephen Hawking, former CIA chief R. James Woolsey, and sustainable design experts William McDonough and Bruce Mau.
In addition to co-producing and narrating the film, DiCaprio wrote the script with its directors, Leila Conners Peterson and Nadia Conners.
In an age where no one will listen to your argument unless it is on TV – this is necessary. It is a film that seems to be “An Inconvenient Truth 2” but I welcome it. The scientific community is smart and should rule the earth, but they are meek. Actors like Di Caprio do well to be a voice for them; they needed it. The scientific community is going bonkers about global warming and they want to be heard.
Stephen Hawking is in this movie. This man is so smart it is sickening. When he suggests something – It is wise to consider his words. I hope to one day meet him, and steal his brain – so I may eat it and gain his knowledge.
Another person I hope that is in the documentary is David Suzuki . He is a Canadian hero and I hope he is in this film. Suzuki for those of you who don’t know Is a Canadian of Japanese descent, that was forced by the Canadian government into a WW2 concentration camp in his youth. Under the encouragement of his father he excelled at his studies with a special focus given to public speaking. He has popularized science in Canada for decades and puts out educational videos for schools. In one such video he gets drunk to show the effects of alcohol!
I am excited to see this film by DiCaprio. I believe global warming is a severe threat and that human pollution is poisoning the earth for all species. In a world where we have to share space with other life; this is unacceptable and arrogant. I am glad that this film and others are spreading the message, I do think that it is too little too late. In the next 200 years I will be surprised if humans still exist at all. Good thing I am a nihilist, otherwise I don’t know how I would sleep at night.
