The threat of the global warming apocalypse is going to be reinterated with a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth. We get the news from our friends at JoBlo:
IESB (still going strong despite Paramount’s best efforts) recently got to talk to director Davis Guggenheim at the premiere of his next film GRACIE and Guggenheim mentioned he’s in talks with the studio for a prequel. “I’m meeting with Paramount next week to talk about a sequel to INCONVENIENT TRUTH. Too early to talk about details.”
No matter what your stand is on global warming one thing is certain – humans are a destructive force when it comes to the world around them. We pump the air, water, and land full of all sorts of shit and hope that it will disappear into a pocket dimension. We need to change the way we live and start addressing the most real and destructive force on the planet today – exploding human population.
I am not certain we need a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth. Sure we could use another documentary on environmental issues, but I am skeptical that a sequel will add to the message of the first film. Will Al Gore be a central figure in this one as well or will they follow another central figure in the debate? If they need a new speaker in this film, I vote for David Suzuki.
