Disney plans on finally bringing about one of its oldest working titles (that still isn’t made) Man and has picked the Troy scribe David Benioff to do the job.
Disney’s inked a deal with the scribe that’ll see him pocket a sweet $2 million to write the long-gestating project. The film tells of an over-the-hill hitman forced to do battle with a younger clone of himself.
Bruckheimer has been attached as a producer on the pic for about nine years now – in other words, way before we saw the possibilities in turning theme park rides into films.
I really do hope that as interesting as this sounds, we do see a better title. Its been in a 9 year limbo, you would think they could have found something better than that by now.
First off, Man is not going to be the most successful title for people surfing the internet and Googling the title of this hot little film. I just typed MAN into Google, and got a dozen different references on the first page (only one in reference to male human). Its just too generic a term.
Secondly, this movie involves more than one Man. Granted it is the same man twice over, but its still MEN.
I would suggest Man Vs Man or something equally as clever as Man, but something we can identify this movie with.
If this movie is a success, I would really feel awkward coming out of the theater and being over heard saying “I love MAN” or struggling with common pop culture expressions like “Man that Man was great. He is the Man, Man.”
Im a little dizzy now.
