Interesting news on the horizon know as Eli Roth. Fresh out of his Grindhouse experience he is planning a film that is made entirely of movie trailers. We get the news and following story from FILMWAD:
Thanks to this interview from collider.com, we have some interesting information about the future plans of Eli Roth. He’s putting the finishing touches on Hostel 2 now, and is set to receive the script for the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s zombie novel Cell next week. But Roth seems most excited – by far – about his plans to make Trailer Trash, a movie composed entirely of Grindhouse-style fake trailers. He also drops a few names – Greg Nicotero, Edgar Wright and Robert Rodriguez – of people who have already approached him about contributing, and to quell our suspicions, he says that he indeed has already come up with a “genius” thread that ties them all together and causes them to “play like a movie.”
I loved the trailers in Grindhouse, they were one of my favorite things about the movie. I could probably watch a movie full of 5 min trailers with great enjoyment and I think it could be a lot of fun. In the age where everyone is watching YouTube, having a movie of 5 min clips will not seem like such a foreign experience, it may suit us perfectly.
I love short films, I love net clips and I enjoy fast paced media. My concern is that my own attention span will soon be that of an insect. I am aware that my entertainment is just that, but is the speed at which we get our information causing us to be impatient to the point of detriment? Maybe, maybe not, but one thing is certain – this is a timely idea and I am interested in seeing how well it is received.
One of the things I love about the project is that it causes the Directors to boil down their idea so much that you can see the style of each Director clearly and with great effect in just a short amount of time. It is a great opportunity to showcase your talent among a collection of your artistic peers.
Trailer Trash is also a bitchin’ title.
