Once upon a time I had a little crush on Piper Perabo. She distracted me in Coyote Ugly then after a rousing performance in Rocky and Bullwinkle she downgraded to bit parts and glorified cameos like the oldest of 12 kids in Cheaper by the Dozen. But fear not, she is scheduled to star in a movie that features talking animals. Yeah…
According to Variety, the story tracks a spoiled Beverly Hills Chihuahua that must fight its way out of Mexico and find its way back home. Perabo will play the dog’s bratty owner.
Raja Gosnell, the man behind all those live-action Scooby Doo movies, will direct South of the Border using a cast of real animals.
So this is all we get of Miss Perabo. I never really thought she was an outstanding actress, but I did enjoy seeing her on screen. Her personality feels genuine and she is adorable. Shame she is coming second fiddle to a bunch of animals.
At least we will get to see her Paris Hilton impression. Should be good enough for a laugh and some upper class glam.
