Rumours of interest today regarding the Star Trek series of films. It appears Goseling is interested in the Kirk role and Keri Russel may have landed a role in the upcoming film. We get the saucy news from cinemablend:
Ryan Gosling As Captain Kirk, Felicity As A Klingon? You’ve heard by now the rumor that Matt Damon will be playing a young Captain Kirk in Bryan Singer’s new reboot of Star Trek. Well it looks like he’s no longer the only name interested in bossing around Mr. Spock. IESB says Notebook star Ryan Gosling wants to sit in the Captain’s chair.
Meanwhile in other Trek casting rumors, TrekMovie caught an interview with Keri Russell in Entertainment Weekly in which JJ Abrams chimes in and affirms the possibility of her working in Star Trek with him.
So there you have it – more Star Trek rumors to add to the list. I do not mind Ryan Goseling, but I prefer Damon to play the role of James T Kirk. Damon is naturally more Kirk-esque and I think he would be a better fit for the project. Goseling would make a good Vulcan though (with a black wig), he has a Vucan way about him and I could see him doing well in that sort of role.
As far as Keri Russell is concerned I am unsure what to think. I would not care to see her as a lead character, but if she was in the movie I suppose it would not bug me. To be honest, whenever I see her I think of Felicity and the hair cut scandal that ruined the show. This is probably the only case where someone hopes to be type cast from a Star Trek film. It certainly beats being type cast as that Felicity chick. Star Trek conventions beat Felicity conventions any day of the week!
