Like just about everyone else on the planet, I think “Army of Darkness” just frigging rules. That movie is a timeless classic that I’ll be watching on Holo Discs when I’m 80 and still laughing my ass off. But unlike everyone else on the planet… I wasn’t really all that big on the first 2 Evil Dead movies (especially the first one… the second one was ok). But any hint at the chance there MIGHT be a follow up film to Army of Darkness will instantly grab my attention.
Speaking of which, the good folks over at Moviehole give us this:
“Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi tells The Herald Sun that he’s trying to recruit his brother Ivan to write the screenplay for a third sequel to his indy horror classic “The Evil Dead”. “I’m trying to get my brother, Ivan, to write the screenplay with me. He wrote Army of Darkness, the third one, with me and we have been talking about another one, but we haven’t started work on it”, says Raimi.
There have been rumors and whispers and theorizing about a possible Evil Dead 4 for a LONG time… and personally I don’t really think it’ll ever happen. Although I think it would be FANTASTIC if Raimi tossed the $300 million budget flicks for a while and went back to doing some great small budget flicks. Hell, I’d fly to Sweden to see the premiere of an Evil Dead 4 that was made for like $5 million. That would be sweet.
