Sensational Statham news! He has scammed the lead in an upcoming heist picture. We get the skinny from moviesonline:
Jason Statham has signed on and will take the lead in The Bank Job. From acclaimed Director Roger Donaldson and based on the true story of the now legendary 1971 Baker Street bank robbery, this is a story which has remained untold for over 35 years due to a government gagging order. THE BANK JOB tells how one of the biggest robberies in British history took place with no arrests ever made, nor money ever recovered. It also tells the story of a vault full of secrets, the scandals that unfurled and the lives lost in the pursuit for the truth to stay ‘hidden’.
Bank robberies are something we can all relate to; because we have all thought about doing it. Or maybe just me, every day and every night; I want to rob banks. You want to know what is better than working for a living? Stealing lots of money.
Statham has a good look for a hooligan hero or hooligan criminal. Either way he is a celebration of hooliganism and he is an up and coming action star that may very well establish himself as a deity in the pantheon of action if he keeps scoring quality roles. His hose fight in Transporter 2 is one of the greatest in all of film. I am never disappointed to see him and I hope this movie celebrates his ability and the glory of thievery.
