It is on a magical island in a land far far away that giant robots will first assault our senses from the silver screen. We get the news of the Transformers premier from the movieweb:
The Steven Spielberg produced film will have its worldwide premiere at the Taormina Film Festival on June 21st. The film is being helicoptered into the event. There is no word on whether that helicopter will turn into a giant robot or not.
This will be the first major U.S. film to premier at the 53-year-old event. Michael Bay and several cast members will be flown in along with the film print in an elaborate ceremony.
This is sweet news for the Taormina Film Fest. I wonder if they will have giant robots raise out of the ocean for the event. I hope they do something over the top for this premier, I think it is going to be both expected and appropriate. I think 50 foot replicas are in order.
We have been talking about his film since the first uncut podcast. I am hoping above all hope that this movie does not disappoint. Nothing bothers me more than when someone pisses on, or represents poorly, fictional heroes I have had for 20 years. I also would hate to have so much anticipation go to waste. I remember the letdown of Phantom Menace and if Transformers sucks it will be that level of sorrow for this fan of robot justice.
