Movies Online gave us a look at the first Halloween poster. Simple, sweet, completely void of any visual elements that make me want to see the movie. Its a good thing I heard about it before hand, because this poster isnt doing it for me.
Rob Zombie’s vision of this film is an entirely new take on the legend and will satisfy fans of the classic “Halloween” legacy while beginning a new chapter in the Michael Myers saga. This new movie will not only appeal to horror fans, but to a wider movie-going audience as well. It will not be a copycat of any prior films in the “Halloween” franchise.
I like that they are reimagining this movie.
Fresh starts can be a bad thing. And people will always resist. But sometimes they can be good things. Besides, “ReImagining” is the new in-phrase in Hollywood. Used to be Trilogy, but every since they announced the Smurfs movie being planned as a Trilogy, its lost its flare.
So lets take a new look on a franchise instead of churning out more of the same dribble. Not to say that the originals are bad, but that sometimes you have to see things a little differently BEFORE things start to look bad.
After 8 movies of the same mindless killer wandering around donkey bagging emo teens with a telephone post and screeching girls getting bisected by a machette, haven’t we seen enough? Ok, if I say it that way it doesn’t sound so bad.
But this daring move to give more character and purpose to Meyers isnt a bad thing. I am not saying it wont suck, but the very idea that someone is taking a “different” approach to the character isn’t all bad. They can still take a good idea and make it smell like 6th day gym socks wrapped in spoiled bacon.
