We have news that Ronald D Moore is looking to bring his sci fi artistry to the I Robot franchise. He is penning a sequel and we get the scoop from comingsoon via collider:
Collider.com talked to “Battlestar Galactica’s” Ronald D. Moore who revealed that he’s writing a sequel to Will Smith-starrer I, Robot:The biggest news I got from him is in part 2. It seems that he’s writing a sequel to the Will Smith movie “I Robot” and while I tried to get info from him on the story… he was silent. And at the end of the interview I went back to trying to get some info by asking about the budget and if he wrote it for a certain price tag? You’ll have to watch to get the answer.
I thought I Robot was alright, It was a disposable film that was entertaining enough, but left nothing to be remembered. I found that to be a shame, a future where robots revolt is closer than we think. With robot expos in Japan showing us more and more amazing robots and androids every year, I think it is safe to say that I will live to see the first robot maids/butlers.
With Ronald D Moore having such a good run on Battlestar Galactica let us hope that he can bring that same magic to I Robot 2. Blade Runner fucking rules, and we need more movies about robots, androids and cyborgs. As robots get more and more integrated with our society, we will have to start wrestling with the issues of robot rights thought the venues of ethical debate and artistic expression. With robots taking over our menial tasks we will be able to enjoy more free time and a greater standard of living, I am glad I will be alive to see the beginning of the robot age.
I find the subject to be terribly exciting, I hope this film will tickle my fancy.
