It looks Like Steve Martin will be back with a new director to shoot The Pink Panther 2. We get the scoop today from the caves of Yahoo:
Director Harald Zwart, whose credits include “Agent Cody Banks” and “One Night at McCool’s,” will shoot “The Pink Panther 2.”
Steve Martin will reprise his role as the bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the modern-day farce.
Shawn Levy, who directed last year’s resurrection of the “Pink Panther” franchise, is executive producing. Sony is eyeing a late August start date.
I am a Steve Martin and a Peter Sellers fan. When I heard about the Pink Panther remake I was excited to see it, and then people flat out told me not to. From the reviews that I have read, it appears I have made the correct choice, although I am sure curiosity will drive me to rent it one of these days.
With lackluster reviews of the first film, switching directors may be a wise idea. Harald Zwart hopefully can bring the same magic to this movie as he did in Agent Cody Banks. Zwart is Norwegian and I hope he can do Norway proud like Black Metal. This is exactly what this franchise needs, a Norwegian Black Metal influenced Pink Panther caper. Someone could poison Abbath Doom Occulta and Clouseau is then called to take the case! That is movie magic!
