Tim Story is going to launch right out of Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer with another comic book movie based on DC Comic’s “Losers”. We get the story and synopsis from the caves of Yahoo:
The Warner Bros. project follows a highly trained and eclectic Special Ops team that is set up, betrayed and left for dead. Its members go on a quest to find who sold them out and why, righting wrongs they encounter along the way.
The tales of “Losers” ran in the pages of DC Comics’ “G.I. Combat” and “Our Fighting Forces” in the 1970s and revolved around the adventures of a misfit group of U.S. troops during World War II. The concept was relaunched about five years as a gritty modern action-espionage adventure.
Story said “Losers” probably will be his next movie, with casting beginning immediately. “We are going full steam ahead.”
I have not read the Losers comic books, new or old. I will say that the story does sound to be A-Teamesque. Which is always good news in my books. “Good guys” that still have to find ways to run from the law, are great stories. We love to root for the freedom of people that have been judged for something they did not do, or have been judged too harshly according to their crime. There is a sense of fairness and justice in all of us, and stories like this tug on these emotional strings.
I hope Tim Story is up to the task. I was not very thrilled with how FF1 came together and am upset to say the least about Galactus in FF2. I have been sent some emails today with positive reviews about Rise Of The Silver Surfer, so we will have to see. If you read the entirety of the Yahoo source article, Story seems to be enthusiastic about a “soldier” project and perhaps “Losers” will be a better fit for him.
