Jack Black and Todd Phillips have joined forces to tackle the pressing issue of schoolhouse witchery! We get the skinny from our friends at comingsoon.net:
Jack Black and Todd Phillips are teaming for the first time on Warner Bros. comedy Man-Witch. Variety says they are developing the project for Black to star and Phillips to direct.
In the comedy, Black will play a schoolteacher who suddenly discovers he has witchlike abilities. Taken in by a coven, he is persuaded to attend a school for witches, only to discover that his classmates are all girls.
Todd Phillips is the man that brought us Old School and for that I will always be in his debt. I usually look forward to everything that he does, some stuff hits, some stuff misses, but I like his work and will drop cash to see his movies without reservation.
I am not a huge Jack Black fan, but he has done some roles that I have loved him in. He was perfect for School Of Rock and I liked him in Mars Attack as the elder army brother. I think Black is often put into roles that do not suit him, but when the role is right – he brings glorious magic. The idea of a “Man-Witch” is great, not only is the title funny but to see Jack Black as a sorcerer in an all girl school is just fantastic.
I am hoping this is a mix of Harry Potter and Animal House.
