To the surprise of no one, It looks like Maichael Bay is going to direct the next Transformers film. We get the following interview blurb from the gossip whores at Entertainment Weekly:
How are you sitting with the idea of directing another Transformers movie? Let’s see how this one does. I’ve got a lot of ideas for the next one. There’s a lot of really cool, big robot stuff that I had in my head that we didn’t do. I just want to see how this works. You might not grow as much as a director [to do a sequel]. But it’s kind of like you have your baby and you don’t want someone else to take it.
No one expects Michael Bay to give up his baby, and with the numbers starting to roll in from Transformers it looks like his fatherhood is guaranteed. His talk of more robots is good news to me, but I will wait and see. The question here is not if, but when. If I had to put money down I would guess 2009 before we see the sequel.
Michael Bay seems like he is a dude. I am not a fan of everything he did in Transformers, but he has a great haircut and seems to be a straight shooter. These are reasons enough for me to respect the man and I look forward to his next installment of this series; and hope he make a film that surpasses the first.
