I said it in my first Casino Royale review, and I’ll say it again… Daniel Craig is the best James Bond to hit the screen. I’m not saying he’s a better actor over all than say… Sean Connery… but to me he fit Bond better than any before him. To me now, Craig IS James Bond. I just can’t say enough about how good he was in that flick. Anyway…
You knew Craig would be in line for some sort of raise after Casino Royale took in over $600 million world wide. IMDB reports the following:
James Bond star Daniel Craig has become the U.K’s highest-paid actor – after signing a multi-million dollar deal with 007 bosses. The actor has committed to appear in a further two movies in the super spy franchise, earning $10 million and $16 million. each one respectively – after his appearance in Casino Royale helped the movie become the biggest-grossing Bond outing ever.
Some people will look at those numbers and think they should be higher… but keep in mind that as good as he was in Casino Royale… Daniel Craig still only has 1 single hit movie under his belt. To get handed $26 million for a 2 picture deal after just one hit movie when you haven’t really proved your name alone can draw in an audience is pretty phenomenal.
