A Chicago Tribune film critic recently wrote up an article on all the movies that he’s walked out on before the ending in his career. A couple of sites stared a conversation about the movies they’ve walked out on, and so I thought I’d bring the conversation here too.
For me, there are only 2 films in my life that I have walked out on before the ending:
1) Dark Water
Oh my dear sweet lord… the most boring film I’ve ever seen. NOTHING happens. I’m not kidding… there is a solid 10 minute scene where a landlord is just showing Jennifer Conley around an apartment that she might rent. 10 MINUTES! I didn’t want to leave, becuase up till that point I had never walked out of a film before… but I just couldn’t take it anymore. So up we got and walked out. I felt dirty.
2) The Ringer
I’m sorry… but an entire movie dedicated to making fun of handicapped people just bothered me… and when you hang around Doug Nagy, you don’t offend easily. Some people try to say “No John, they weren’t making fun of them… it was joking WITH them”. Yeah, that MIGHT have been their goal, and I respect that… but they failed miserably and every joke just came off as “HAHA… look how funny those retarded people are”. No thanks. Up we got and out we walked.
So I want to know what movies YOU’VE walked out on. Maybe you didn’t HATE the movie… but there was something about it that you just couldn’t stand. Or maybe noisy kids were bothering you…. whatever the reasons… let us know what movies you’ve walked out on and why. This will be fun.
