It looks like the new NYC laws aimed at targeting piracy found their first person to make an example of. We get the following story about the wrath of Douche Bloombag from the fabled caves of Yahoo!:
A moviegoer caught secretly recording the sci-fi blockbuster “Transformers” has been charged with unauthorized use of a video camera in a theater in the first arrest under a new New York City law that stiffened penalties for pirating films.
A criminal complaint accuses Kalidou Diallo of slipping a video recorder, video player and remote control into a sneak preview of the film at a Bronx theater Monday night. In May, Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed legislation that upgraded film piracy from a violation with a $250 fine to a misdemeanor that carries up to six months in jail and penalties of up to $5,000.
This seems like a harsh scentence when compared to other crimes such as drunk driving. I am not a lawmaker however, and the judges in NY have deemed this to be just. I feel sorry for the dude that got busted, but when you bring a video camera into the theater – you knew the risk going in.
Douche Bloombag may now champion his ability to punish the wrong doers. I wonder if this guy will get the maximum sentence, man that would suck. 6 months in the slammer…jeepers.
Cell Mate 1: “What are you in for buddy?”
Kalidou Diallo: “I videotaped Transformers in the theater”
Cell Mate 1: “Dude!…..that sucks!”
Kalidou Diallo: “I know”
Cell Mate 1: “I am totally going to rape you now, I like Transformers too. I will be Magatron and you will be Bumblebee when I rape you ok?”
Kalidou Diallo: “……..(tear)….can I be Jazz?”
Cell Mate 1: “No!”
