Ron Howard is a terrific director. I have a couple of friends of mine who REALLY don’t like him… and maybe I’m partially putting this post up in spite of them… nah… I just really like Howard and thought I’d offer you guys the 10 Best Ron Howard films. He’s come a long way from Opie Cunningham.
1) BACKDRAFT – Hands down, no questions asked. This movie had everything. Kick Ass.
2) CINDERELLA MAN – Victim of the one of the worst film titles in movie history and a lead actor in the midst of a public backlash, this film failed at the box office… but that doesn’t change the fact that this was one hell of a movie.
3) SPLASH – Maybe I rate it this high because it has such a huge nostalgia factor for me. Either way I loved it.
4) A BEAUTIFUL MIND – Won him an Oscar
5) WILLOW – Yeah that’s right… WILLOW. Shut up.
6) APOLLO 13
7) COCOON – I just remember grinning the whole time this movie played
8) HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS – There are a lot of people who didn’t like this film. I really did.
9) EDTV – You know what… this film got lost in a lot of “The Truman Show” comparisons, but truth be told I found this film quite enjoyable and fairly under-appreciated.
10) GUNG HO – A pretty decent comedy. I didn’t love it, but it deserves to come in at #10
So there you have it. My top 10 best Ron Howard directed films. And no… I didn’t “forget” about The Da Vinci Code… although I wish I could.
