There was always considerable interest in the fan community for a Watchmen film… and ever since Zach Snyder came on board with it (and the subsequent huge success of 300) that interest has only grown. The problem with the project at this stage in its development is all the casting rumors. There are a lot of key characters in Watchmen, and as such, for a year now casting rumors about all of them have been flying around like crazy… most of which turned out to be bogus… so I have generally stayed away from Watchmen talk until there was actually something to talk about.
As we get closer now to the film going into production, more reliable and confirmable news is starting to leak out. One bit comes from the good folks over at LatinoReview who tell us Ozymandias has been cast:
ord is that Law is out…and Matthew Goode is in to play Ozymandias. Who??? If you saw Mandy Moore’s Chasing Liberty then he was the guy opposite of her in the flick. If you were one of the upteen-million who skipped the flick then you still have no clue who he is.
Yeah… count me as one of those guys saying “WHO?”. I didn’t treat myself to Chasing Liberty, so I can’t say I’ve seen the guy before… but there you go.
I expect a lot of casting confirmations at Comic Con (Snyder is going to be there).
