Rainn Wilson To Do Renaissance Men

Rain-Wilson-RenissanceRainn Wilson is pretty hot right now. He’s floated around the small supporting comedic character scene for a long time before getting real attention for his role in the American version of The Office as Dwight. And now he’s co-writen a script called “Renaissance Men” that’s been picked up. The folks over at Movieweb have this:

The Office’s Rainn Wilson and his writing partner, fellow actor Matt Ross, have sold their comedy script Renaissance Men to Universal Pictures. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilson will star in the film, as well as produce it with Jay Roach. The script follows two broke community theater actors who believe that they’ve killed one of their co-stars. They hide from the cops inside a Renaissance fair. Wilson stated, “It’s a bit like We’re No Angels, only funny, and in a Renaissance fair.”

Time for me to play the bad guy again. But this is not something to look forward to. Why? Because Rainn Wilson is just not that talented. There… I said it. He’s got one schtick… and that schtick just happens to fit with the brilliantly written character on The Office. Outside of that, he’s pretty much disposable.

Rainn has a new film coming out with Christina Applegate called “The Rocker” that’s now finished filming. I was on set for a day… this movie is going to be beyond horrible, and Wilson is going to be horrible in it. It’s hard to say that because on set when the cameras aren’t rolling he seems to be a genuinely great guy, but once the cameras roll… yup… pull out the Wilson Schtick and beat us to death with it. So yeah… no interest in “Renaissance Men” for me thanks.
