Scorpion King Prequel

Scorpion-King-PrequelI’m sorry, I must have dozed off… but this one completely caught me off guard, because I had no idea this was even happening. Apparently there is going to be a Scorpion King prequel (and Scorpion King was a prequel to The Mummy)… so a prequel to a prequel. And it starts shooting in less than 2 months! And it’s NOT going to have The Rock as The Scorpion King. Wow.

As a matter of fact, they’re still looking for their lead. Want to try out for it? Sure thing… but here’s what they’re looking for:

“There is no requirement to look exactly like a young Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but we still need an EXOTIC QUALITY: Polynesian, mixed race, Arabic, brunette. NOT blond. We also need our Mathayus to reflect the charisma and comedic elements of the character created by The Rock, especially in his warm, relaxed and humorous relationship with Layla, the young girl whom he has grown up with, and with whom he experiences a growing sexual tension.”

Wow… I can’t find anything that definitively says if this is a theatrical or a straight to dvd film, but all signs point to DVD. This may surprise you, but I actually enjoyed Scorpion King for what it was… just a light, slightly cheesy 80’s style barbarian movie, and to be honest, I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing another one (just perhaps a little grittier this time)… but this sounds awful.
