Space Invader Movie

Space-Invader-2If you’re like me, when you first read the title “Space Invader”, your mind instantly takes you back to the 1980’s video game and you think to yourself “oh dear lord… please tell me they’re not making a movie based on that video game”. Well, I have good news and bad news. GOOD NEWS: This is not a movie based on the game. BAD NEWS: I now wish it was.

No, Space Invader has nothing to do with the video game, but rather yet another vehicle for the done a thousand times formula of “guy does something he wouldn’t normally do to get the girl”. Movieweb gives us this synopsis:

The film follows the adventures of Doug Huggins, the son of a NASA legend who is afraid of space travel. When Huggins finds out that his aeronautic star girlfriend has been chosen to fly to an International Space Station with a suave Astronaut, he must overcome his fears and fly into space to win her back.

On the plus side, the film is set to be directed by Andrew Currie who just did the zombie comedy “Fido”. But the good news stops there. This sounds like a total waste to me. Your thoughts?
