Stephen Chow’s New Film CJ7

Stephen-Chow-Cj7I still remember sitting in my buddies place and our friend Todd Brown (now the Editor over at Twitchfilm.Net) came over and asked me if I had ever seen Shaolin Soccer. I said “no”, and he grabbed the dvd and popped it in instantly. I’ve been a big Stephen Chow fan ever since. That movie was so damn funny I can honestly tell you my sides hurt after watching it (no seriously… they did).

I quite enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle… but not nearly as much. That’s not a slam on Hustle at all… just a sign of how much I loved Shaolin Soccer. Anyway…

Stephen’s new film that was going to be called “A Hope” has gone through a title change and is now going by the name “CJ7”. I have absolutely no idea what that’s supposed to mean, but I assume the movie itself will reveal that. The good folks over at Movieweb give us this little synopsis:

The fantasy stars Chow as a poor Chinese laborer who learns important life lessons when his son gets a strange new toy. The film, now in post-production, will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics in North America

As a side note, Stephen is also currently working on Kung Fu Hustle 2.
